COUPLES HORSEBACK ADVENTURE TREKS
Your couple accommodation. Converted stables of course!
There are many group trekking vacations available. As a couple who ride we felt there was a gap in the market for precisely that - A holiday for a couple, both experienced riders, who want to share the adventures of the real "off-road" riding we offer.
Currently we offer a LONG WEEKEND ADVENTURE RIDE for a maximum of two couples
Thurs - Sun
Thursday
We expect your arrival between lunchtime and early evening. If you choose not to hire a car we can organise to collect you from Málaga or Gibraltar airport* We are 1 hour from Málaga airport and 30 minutes from Gibraltar.
A welcome to Spain tapas and drink early evening at the barn will include discussing the rides for your weekend ahead, an explanation of the local town, amenities and the area in general.
Friday
After breakfast** we meet at the barn, you meet your mount for the next couple of days and have a quick shake down ride in the arena to familiarise you with bitless riding, our endurance saddles and most importantly your horse. We will then hit the trail, going across the tops where you will see incredible views across to Africa, before heading down into the Genal Valley. This ride takes about 4 hours. Lunch is at a local venta, before riding the short journey back to base (Approx. 1/2 hour).
Saturday
After breakfast** again we meet at the barn and set off for a very complete day of riding, through a private cork forest to a small, and very welcoming, white village where we lunch before returning back to base. This ride is truly all day, with about 8 hours in the saddle, plus a couple more for lunch. This can be a challenging trail and may require some walking on the narrower paths, or those where branches are very low. We follow a route used by smugglers and traders of yesteryear which, obviously, has somewhat fallen into disuse!
Sunday
After breakfast** we set off from the barn for a short ride, around 2.5 hours, giving you some very different views of the coast from way up in the mountains. Lunch back at the barn will be a very traditional Spanish affair including drinks
After you prepare yourselves to leave we shall bid you farewell on Sunday afternoon, or take you back to your airport of departure.***
*There is an extra charge of 90€ per couple for collection and return, arriving and departing at Málaga airport. 40€ per couple, for collection and return, arriving and departing from Gibraltar airport - Arrivals at Gib are required to make their own way across the boarder where we shall meet at a pre-organised pick-up point.
***Couples who wish to stay on an extra night or two, or arrive a night early are most welcome to organise this with us. This is a common occurrence. The area is of great natural beauty. With previous notice we can organise rock climbing near by, or a guided walk to the Roman Sulphur baths.
Principal package 990€ per couple - includes all accommodation, all rides (approximately 18 hours of riding), buffet breakfast 3 mornings, lunch on the trail - limited soft drinks and beer included - Sunday lunch at the barn (again soft drinks and beer or wine included) Any special dietary needs will be catered for. Please be sure to inform us when making your reservation.
**Buffet Breakfast (x 3) this will consist of fruit, bread, cereal, cold cuts, fruit juice, tea, coffee.
***Additional nights 40€ per couple per night October to April. 70€ pcpn June to September.
We are blessed with some quality gourmet venues in the area, whether you want fine dining or a traditional Spanish Venta. All a very short car ride from the cottages.
